The model of the E-Fan 2.0 made available by Airbus Germany

The design of the E-fan was designed by Airbus engineer Bruno Saint-Jalmes, also designer of the Garonne tramway in Toulouse. This 1-scale model, preliminary study of the new version 2.0, was exhibited at the Paris Air Show in 2013 and then at the Paris Air Show in 2015. On this occasion, the fin was painted by the artist Gérard Economos (1935 -2016).

The E-Fan 1.0, an all-electric training aircraft
The E-fan is a two-seater electric propulsion plane of 9.50 m wingspan having made its first flight on March 11, 2014. On July 10, 2015, the E-fan is the first all-electric twin-engine to have crossed the Manche, with test pilot Didier Esteyne at the controls. A new version 2.0 was under study when the aeronautical group Airbus ended its participation in this project in March 2017 to move towards new hybrid technologies. The E-Fan therefore served as a technological springboard for future projects of hybrid flying vehicles, in particular the E-Fan X.
