Temporary exhibition

Memory of the air

From May 8 to June 8, 2025

The temporary exhibition “Mémoire des airs, quand l'archéologie et les sciences éclairent le passé” looks at the Occitan perimeter, a “free zone” until 1942, whose factories contributed to the war effort. Using fragments of crashed airplanes, it sheds light on industrial issues, the role of resistance networks, and those who work today to pass on this memory.

This exhibition is the fruit of two research programs: PROCRAFT, dedicated to the protection and preservation of Second World War aircraft wrecks, and PAérO, which combines archaeology, archives and conservation to locate crash sites in Occitanie between 1939 and 1945. To date, over 460 sites have been identified.

This unique exhibition is part of the permanent tour of the aeroscopia museum, next to the “Aeronautical Archaeology” island. You will then be able to rediscover it in various Toulouse Métropole institutions, as it forms part of our catalog of metropolitan territorial actions.
